Jewish American Israeli Discussion Forum

This discussion forum is for people to discuss issues in an intellectual, honest and nonjudgemental way. The forum is geared towards Jewish, Israeli, and American religion, philosophy and politics.

This forum was created with the following points in mind:

  • This site is not beholden to any political party or formal religious group.
  • This site has no specific political agenda.
  • This site is not run by someone trying to sell their latest book.
  • This site is for amateurs; for regular people who just want to discuss issues so as to clarify and further their own knowledge.

Do any of the following situations apply to you?

  1. You enjoy discussing these issues but you never seem to have enough time with the small number of friends with whom you could even have such a discussion?
  2. You enjoy discussing these issues but in your regular social circle all the issues seem to have already been decided – there seems to be no room for actual discussion and debate anymore?
  3. You enjoy discussing these issues and due to a lack of opportunity for face-to-face dialogue you have searched the internet for discussion opportunities only to find that most news outlets and social media channels suffer from groupthink, have a political agenda, or are only narrowly focused on converting people to “their side?”

If any of those situations sound familiar then this site may be of interest to you. It was designed exactly to combat the aforementioned problems with discourse today.

To that end:

  • This site is a place where people can, anonymously if they wish, discuss issues they care about without worrying about preconceived notions regarding what they are expected to say or think.
  • This site is a place where people can explore ideas even if they are different from what is typical in their normal social groups.
  • This site is an opportunity to debate issues honestly, only for the sake of knowledge itself, shielded from the gravitational pull of prior political, religious, or social affiliations.

The Mishna in Tractate Avot distinguishes between argument for the sake of Heaven and argument not for the sake of Heaven (but rather, for one’s own sake.) This site is about arguing for the sake of Heaven.

Now, let’s discuss stuff…
